Last month, Citroen has announced that it will enter in the World Touring Car Championship in 2014 season. Today, the French car maker has unveiled the first sketches with the 2014 Citroen C-Elysee WTCC, the racing car that will be driven by Sebastien Loeb.

In terms of design, the French sedan features a new aerodynamic kit that was special designed for WTCC competition. It features an aggressive front fascia that is dominated by the carbon fiber spoiler, a ventilated hood, new side skirts and, of course, extended wheel arches.

Behind the car, we see a massive rear wing and an aggressive air diffuser. The exterior package also features new 18 inch alloy wheels wrapped in Yokohama tires.

Citroen-WRC-C-Elysee-2[3]“Choosing the C-Elysee as the basis for our WTCC car reflects very clearly our determination to use racing as an active means of supporting our commercial development. With rounds in Latin America, Morocco, China and Russia, the WTCC race calendar is genuinely global, and it will be a real advantage to run a C-Elysee, a key driver of our growth, in front of large crowds of enthusiastic motorsport fans,” said Frederic Banzet, CEO of the Citroën Brand, in the official statement.

Under the bonnet is a 1.6 liter turbocharged four cylinder with direct injection engine that can output 380 horsepower at 6.000 rpm and 400 Nm at 4.500 rpm. The resources are put to the ground via a six speed sequential gear box and a mechanical self-locking differential.

According to the same statement, the Citroen C-Elysee WTCC has already begun a special program of tests. The upcoming French racing car will make its official debut in September at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show.
