Earlier this week, the 2013 Ferrari 458 Speciale has been unveiled by the Italian supercar maker. According to Ferrari, the brand new model represents the company’s core philosophy of extreme technological innovation and research.

The rumors indicated the Monte Carlo, Challenge Stradale or Scuderia names but in the end the Italian car manufacturer decided to call it “Speciale”. In the Ferrari statement we find out that the new 458 Speciale managed to run a lap at the Fiorano test track in just 1 minute and 23.5 seconds, a 1.5 second quicker than the stock 458 Italia.

According to Ferrari, this is the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 engine built in mass series and can offer 135 horsepower per liter. The new 2013 Ferrari 458 Speciale weights only 1.290 kilograms thanks to the new light materials used on its development. In these conditions, the Italian supercar can sprint from stand still to 100 km/h in three seconds, while the acceleration form not to 200 km/h is done in 9.1 seconds.

To create such a beautiful and powerful car, Ferrari teamed up with Pininfarina, the coachbuilder who developed the car forms. The aerodynamic was dramatically changed and this can be justified by the front and rear moveable flaps that automatically adapt to reduce drag and balance down force whenever it’s necessary.

Another innovative system is the Side Slip Angle Control that analyses the car slip angle and sends the power to the correct wheel. For better track results, the new 2013 Ferrari 458 Speciale comes with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires which provides maximum grip in the wet.

The 2013 Ferrari 458 Speciale will make its public debut, next month at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show.
