The brand new Nissan Quashqai is coming. With a totally new design in and out, the new crossover doesn’t look that different from the old one: it maintains the raised driving position and the sleek lines of the first generation Quashquai. However, its overall look will look sportier, and the passenger room will also be considerably larger.

The new Nissan Quashquai is 49mm (1.93 inches) longer than the old model, and it is also lower and wider. As a result, there is visibly more passenger and trunk space available. The interior of the new Nissan Quashquai brings very much with the Rogue/X-Trail, which is definitely good news. Not only the design improved: the quality of the materials are also much better.

The Nissan Quashquai will be available with two diesel and two petrol engines. Buyers will be able to choose between two- or four-wheel-drive versions with manual or automatic (Xtronic) transmissions. The most popular engine is likely to be the 110PS (108hp) 1.5-liter dCi diesel. Coming with a start-stop system as standard equipment, the manufacturer states that the car’s consumption will be as low as 3.8 l/100 km (61.9 mpg US) and has CO2 emissions of just 99 g/km.

The more powerful diesel engine, the 1.6 dCi churns out 130PS (128hp) with an average consumption of 4.4 l/100 km (53.4 mpg US) and has CO2 emissions of 115 g/km in two-wheel drive manual form. The 4WD version consumes slightly more fuel: 4.9 l/100 km (48 mpg US).

The new Nissan Quashquai will be also available with two petrol engines. The smallest engine is Renault-Nissan’s 1.2-liter DIG-T engine with 115PS (113hp) and 190 Nm (140 lb-ft), tuned specifically for the new crossover. Fitted with a six-speed manual and FWD configuration, the engine consumes 5.6 l/100 km (42 mpg US) and emits 129g/km of CO2 on average.

The more powerful gasoline engine is the 1.6-liter DIG-T with 150PS (148hp). With 240 Nm (177 lb-ft) of torque and an average consumption of 5.6 l/100 km (42 mpg US), this engine might be an interesting alternative to the diesel powertrains.
