Nissan GT-R has always been a beast, but its latest iteration, the 2015 Nissan GT-R Nismo is meaner than ever. It is based by the GT3-spec race car we’ve seen at this years’s Nürburgring 24-hour race, and we have all the reasons to believe it is among the best factory supercars, and even hypercars money can buy these days.

Engineers made quite a few improvements to the car. The 2015 Nissan GT-R Nismo was fitted high flow, larger diameter turbos, churning out 600hp (441kw), 55 hp more compared to the ‘old’ GT-R. Its torque is more than 650Nm, and the maximum power is achieved at 6800rpm, up from 6400.

Its suspension was also revised, based on the 2012 Nürburgring 24-hour race experiences. According to the manufacturer press release, the handling of the 2015 Nissan GT-R Nismo is more refined, road noise and harshness being reduced. It has a 17.3 mm hollow rear anti-roll bar to reduce the body rolling when cornering and direction changes.

The 2015 Nissan GT-R Nismo comes with specially developed Bilstein DampTronic dampers. In some places, special adhesive bonding was used in addition to spot welding. This also helps the suspension perform better under extreme conditions, like racetrack use.

Lots of carbon and a few new body elements have been added to the bodywork. The 2015 Nissan GT-R Nismo has a brand new rear trunk-mounted spoiler, front carbon bumper and its lower front undercover. These elements help increase downforce by 100 kg at 300 km/h, a quite sensible improvement. The painting of the car is also special: the Dark Matte Grey makes it look even more sturdy and muscular.

The driver sits in special, ergonomically sculpted carbon-fiber-backed reclining RECARO seat, and steers the 2015 Nissan GT-R Nismo with a three-spoke steering wheel dressed in Alcantara. But this car isn’t about design: its owners will probably value more the advanced performance telemetry system, which is also standard.
