BMW has announced plans to offer an X5 plug-in hybrid SAV model. The upcoming eco model will be probably named X5 eDrive was preview by the Concept X5 eDrive. The new concept is named X5 plug-in hybrid and is powered by a hybrid powertrain made from a four cylinder petrol engine and an electric model.

The 2014 BMW X5 plug-in hybrid prototype is also featuring an xDrive all-wheel drive system for better performance. Speaking of performance, the German model can sprint from stand still to 100 km/h in less than 7 seconds. In addition, it can average approximately 3.8 liters per 100 kilometers with CO2 emissions of 90 grams per kilometer.

More importantly is that the German SAV will be able to travel up to 30 kilometers on electricity alone. The Bavarian officials declined to say when the model will be launched.
